As simple mortals it may not be our goal to find absolute truth. Perhaps this would simply result in the loss of our free will. Yesterday (January 8th) was Stephen Hawking's birthday, as he has stated if one was to truly contemplate God what else would there be to consider? Perhaps as simple mortals it may be enough that we learn to live without the fear of Truth or life.
Perhaps it is enough to recognize that as long as our universe continues to exist sentient souls will continue to contribute to the following generations pursuit for knowledge. When the tools of knowledge are endlessly used to assist in the development of our human ability to reason, then we will discover our ability to secure the future through the endless satisfaction of discovering new truths in the simple unity that is the universe as a meaningful whole. Improving that which we continue to learn and define as the fabric of life. |
In a lyrical, unexpectedly funny talk about heavy topics such as frayed relationships and the death of a loved one, Elizabeth Lesser describes the healing process of putting aside pride and defensiveness to make way for soul-baring and truth-telling. "You don't have to wait for a life-or-death situation to clean up the relationships that matter to you," she says. "Be like a new kind of first responder ... the one to take the first courageous step toward the other."
